You are the one doing someone else a favor and often get nothing in return. 

Just like the raven in the painting who wants to give a rose to this beautiful and unfriendly lady. The raven looks at the lady but receives no thanks, no affection or acceptance. On the contrary, the rose is not accepted. This is how it was with all the roses the raven wanted to give her. Between the lady and the raven, lots of wilted petals from the rejected roses have accumulated. 

But what could you do if this happened to you? My solution is to pay more attention to yourself, give yourself more love and stop putting energy into others if they cannot appreciate what you give.
